UM System Legislative Priorities

Supporting the University of Missouri System is an investment in the future of our state.

The university serves Missouri citizens and communities through its mission of teaching, research, public service and economic development across our four campuses, University of Missouri Health Care and University of Missouri Extension. Support of these legislative priorities will help us carry out our core mission and provide a significant return on Missouri's investment.

Funding the Core

In total, UM System requests $456 million in core funding:

  1. $419 million in continuance of core operations appropriated in FY18.
  2. Combining our core and fully funding our on-going high demand line item programs.
    • $10 million MU Medical School Partnership
    • $2 million UMKC/MSU Pharmacy Doctorate Program
  3. $21 million in performance funding to invest in programs of excellence to recognize the UM System met all five performance measures this year.
  4. Funding for new high demand programs and partnerships
    • $1.5 million UMKC School of Dentistry Satellite at MSSU
    • $1 million Missouri S&T and MSU Engineering Expansion
    • $1 million Missouri S&T Programs in Clay County

Building for the future

Provide priority consideration to help with the $1.6 billion backlog of maintenance and repair projects:

  • MU Translational Precision Medicine Complex/Research and Education Strategic Redevelopment ($150 million)
  • UMKC Spencer Chemistry & Biological Sciences Renovation Phase II ($33 million)
  • Missouri S&T Schrenk Hall Biosciences Complex Addition and Renovation Phase III ($54 million)
  • UMSL Space Consolidation and Infrastructure ($16 million)
