President Choi Visit to the Capitol
On Wednesday afternoon, President Choi met with House and Senate members to discuss UM System priority, funding for the Translational Precision Medicine Complex and Title IX legislation moving through both the House and Senate.
Title IX
On Tuesday evening the House Judiciary Committee voted HCS HB 573, dealing with changes to the Title IX proceedings, out of committee, 11-6. The new version included an amendment with 23 changes to the original language. Those changes were made after much discussion with Title IX coordinators around the state and many higher educational institutions. The new version addresses many of the original concerns that UM System had with the bill.
Spring Break
The legislature left for spring break Thursday afternoon and will be back in session Monday, March 25th. The week after they return, the House plans to hear the budget on the floor for a vote before heading to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
