University of Missouri President Elson S. Floyd and Missouri Southern State University President Julio Leon will share a stage on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006 at an 11:30 a.m. luncheon at MSSU’s Billingsly Student Center in the Connor Ballroom in Joplin, Mo. The two presidents will discuss improving need-based financial aid for students and shared principles of service to our state by public higher education institutions. This is the fifth of a series of events President Floyd is conducting with other public university presidents around Missouri.

“I am delighted to share the stage in Joplin with President Leon to talk with Missourians about how our state’s public higher education institutions are working to assure access, affordability and accountability,” President Floyd said. “Our institutions want to share this positive story at every opportunity, as we collaborate on ways to better serve Missourians, and specifically work together to improve need-based student financial aid.”

The presidents will have media availability in the ballroom at MSSU after the luncheon at roughly 1:00 p.m.
