Comprehensive Retention Initiative

The Comprehensive Retention Initiative (CRI) is a cooperative effort of the four campuses of the University of Missouri to maintain or enhance retention and graduation rates.  Following currently identified best practices, key initiatives were identified and then specific projects were prioritized from those.  This multi-year effort is looking at:

  • Scheduling software that quickly identifies available courses sections that fit a student’s time parameters to assist students with registering each semester
  • Retention-focused software that provides early alerts to advisors and enhanced communication between students, advisors, faculty and staff
  • Updated degree audit system
  • Academic Mapping Planner, which creates a personalized roadmap for students based upon their degree audit information
  • Data analytics, which is the use of data from the various systems and analytic tools to help monitor student success and provide key information for institutional planning to enhance student success
  • Niche programs for individual campuses where needs are unique and programs need to be customized

Some projects, such as the selection and implementation of the scheduling software, have been completed. Other projects are more complex and will take multiple years to complete.
