University of Missouri officials want to ensure students and families have more time to review financial aid offers.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri System announced Thursday that it will extend its enrollment deadline to May 15 to give prospective students and their families more time to review their financial aid offers and make college decisions.

The UM System joins hundreds of other higher education institutions that have extended their enrollment deadlines due to changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Officials say they expect distribution of financial aid offers for enrolling students to begin in late April. Returning students should continue to expect their financial aid offers in June.

Enrollment deadlines, sometimes referred to as confirmation or deposit deadlines, represent the last day incoming students can cancel their enrollment for a refund of applicable enrollment fees. The deadlines, typically May 1, serve to confirm students have a place in the upcoming semester's incoming class. As of March 25, UM System universities have received 10,113 enrollment confirmations, a more than 10 percent increase over Fall 2023.
