International travel can create legal, regulatory and research security risks, especially when travelers use University devices or data, conduct University business or engage in research activities abroad. Federal regulations also require the University to maintain records of certain types of international travel and remote work.

Employees and other covered individuals must obtain advance authorization for international travel related to University business in accordance with Collected Rules and Regulations, Section 430.030: Research Security International Travel Authorization. Approval may also be required for certain personal international travel involving University-owned property or access to University systems. These requirements help ensure compliance with U.S. export control laws, economic sanctions and research security requirements.
