As part of the university's voluntary retirement plan offerings, employees are eligible for a FREE, confidential financial counseling session. Ask questions about retirement, learn about investment options, create an action plan, etc. Convenient appointments are available on each campus with representatives from Fidelity and TIAA-CREF.

A one-on-one consultation provides guidance to help you maximize your retirement savings and plan for other goals. Retirement representatives are seasoned financial professionals, on staff with Fidelity and TIAA-CREF, and are non-commissioned to ensure that UM employees receive unbiased information. The Retirement representatives can meet at your convenience -- at a designated location or over the phone. Best of all, there is no fee for this added benefit! This free seminar is designed for faculty and staff 10 years or less from retirement. It is a single session offered multiple times throughout the year and provides an overview of the UM Retirement, Disability & Death (RDD) Benefit Plan. Learn about the retirement plan available to active employees hired prior to Oct. 1, 2012, or those returning benefits-eligible employees who were vested when they left the university but did not take a retirement plan distribution. In addition, this seminar will help you review your personal estimate of your pension benefits, if you elect to calculate one through the online Retirement Calculator.

This free four-part seminar series is designed for faculty and staff 10 years or less from retirement. You are encouraged to register for the entire series. Also, you are welcome to attend with your spouse or partner so you can plan your future together.
