Title IX Update

January 13, 2015

Greetings,

2015 is upon us and I am excited for the strides we will continue to make this year!

Policy Update

We are soliciting feedback from an array of groups representing students, faculty, staff and administrators on draft policies for Faculty as Accused and Staff as Accused. Meetings with these campus groups are currently underway. Every effort is being made to have policies vetted and finalized by the February Board of Curators’ meeting.

Faculty as Accused: The policy was shared widely for feedback and improvements on January 2, 2015, with campus groups, including faculty, Title IX coordinators and deputy coordinators, provosts, HR leaders, staff representatives, student leaders, chancellors, vice chancellors and vice presidents.

Staff as Accused: The policy was shared widely for feedback and improvements on January 8, 2015, with campus groups, including staff representatives, faculty, Title IX coordinators and deputy coordinators, provosts, student leaders, chancellors, vice chancellors and vice presidents.

Policy Drafts

Drafts of both policies can be found online:

Faculty as Accused Draft Policy and Relevant Materials

Staff as Accused Draft Policy

Feedback on either policy can be directed to Marsha Fischer of the Office of General Counsel at FischerMB@umsystem.edu by Friday, January 16, 2015. Questions or feedback can also be directed to me at NobleD@umsystem.edu.

Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Deborah S. Noble-Triplett, Ph.D.
