Title IX Update

December 19, 2014

Greetings,

As we close on another semester and approach a new year, I hope you take a moment to reflect on the good work we have accomplished in a short time. Thanks to each of you for your commitment and role in our collective success. I am excited for the strides we will continue to make in 2015.

January 2015 will be a busy month for our system-wide Title IX efforts. The month will include broad vetting of two draft policies. We are soliciting feedback from an array of groups representing students, faculty, staff and administrators and are in the process of scheduling those conversations. Every effort is being made to have policies vetted and finalized by the February Board of Curators’ meeting.

Policy Update

Faculty as Accused: On December 18, 2014, the Intercampus Faculty Council (IFC) agreed that the draft policy was ready for vetting with campus constituents. We will begin sharing the policy widely in January with campus groups, including faculty, Title IX coordinators and deputy coordinators, provosts, HR leaders, staff representatives, student leaders, chancellors, vice chancellors and vice presidents.

Staff as Accused: The HR Policy Committee has provided feedback to legal counsel on the draft policy for staff as accused. Once revised by legal and approved by HR Council, the policy will be shared widely for feedback and improvements. We will begin vetting the policy in January with campus groups, including staff representatives, faculty, Title IX coordinators and deputy coordinators, provosts, student leaders, chancellors, vice chancellors and vice presidents.

Wishing you a safe, joyous and peaceful new year!

Sincerely,

Deborah S. Noble-Triplett, Ph.D.
Assistant Vice President
