Executive Session

This week several bills relating to higher education were passed out of committee and head to the Rules Committee for another vote next week.

  • House Bill 2100 & 1532, relating to Athlete Agents and sponsored by both Representative Jeff Knight and Representative Greg Razer, passed out of the General Laws Committee on Monday.
  • House Bill 2151, which would create a statewide mission statement for SEMO, sponsored by Kathy Swan, passed Higher Education on Monday evening.
  • House Joint Resolution 72, which would direct a percentage of medical marijuana tax revenue to a dedicated fund for MU School of Law Veterans Clinic, sponsored by Representative Chuck Basye, passed the Veterans Committee on Wednesday.
  • House Bill 1858, establishing a minimum biodiesel fuel content mandate for diesel fuel sold or offered for sale in Missouri, sponsored by Representative Mike Haffner, passed the Ag Policy Committee on Wednesday.
  • House Committee Resolution 73, urging the University of Missouri and the Southeastern Conference to lead in reforming the NCAA to ensure fairness and integrity, sponsored by Representative Greg Razer, passed the Career Readiness Committee on Wednesday.
  • House Bill 2088, modifying provisions related to sports betting, sponsored by Representative Dan Shaul, passed out of Rule Committee on Thursday and will be placed on the House Calendar for perfection.
Public Hearing

Senate Bill 632, extending the expiration date of the broadband internet grant program for unserved and underserved areas of the state from August 28, 2021 to August 28, 2027, sponsored by Senator Dan Hegeman, was heard in committee on Wednesday.

Senate Bill 663, sponsored by Senator Eric Burlison, modifying and removing provisions relating to concealed firearms was heard in Senate Transportation, Infrastructure and Public Safety Committee on Thursday morning. COPHE testified in opposition to SB 663 and provided information and concerns before the committee members.
