Senate Appropriations Committee vote on SB912

The Senate Appropriations Committee chaired by Senator Dan Brown (R-16) voted SB912 do pass by a vote of 6-4. SB912, sponsored by Senator Caleb Rowden (R-19), modifies the current cap on tuition charged at public institutions of higher education. The legislation will now be placed on the Senate calendar.

The House Committee on Higher Education, chaired by Representative Donna Lichtenegger (R-146) held executive session and passed a number of bills including two bills sponsored by Lichtenegger:  HB1268 relating to dental faculty permits and HB1876 that modifies various provisions relating to degree offerings at public institutions of higher education. HB1528 sponsored by Representative Dean Dohrman (R-51), which would implement a civics achievement examination and HB1275 sponsored by Representative Kip Kendrick (D-45) that establishes the Allen Purdy work-study program were also passed during executive session.
