All real estate contracts, with the exception of standard forms delegated to designated campus administrators, require review by UM System Real Estate, approval as to legal form by the General Counsel's Office, and execution by the Vice President for Finance, the Treasurer, or their designee.
UM System Real Estate consults with the Campus Real Estate Coordinators and university staff during the preparation and negotiation of contracts.
Please submit the appropriate approval form below (with signatures of the Business & Finance Officer and College/School Dean or Non-Academic Division Leader only) to your Campus Real Estate Coordinator to begin a real estate request. The Campus Real Estate Coordinator will seek Chancellor/Vice Chancellor of Finance approval on your behalf. Please allow 2-3 weeks minimum for standard processing. Processing time may vary depending on the complexity of the request and current transaction volume.
- New Lease Approval Form – To be completed for any new lease when location and (most) lease terms are known.
- Lease Amendment Approval Form – To be completed to revise the terms of an existing lease
- Real Estate Project Request Form – To be completed if department has a need to ease or purchase off-campus space but the specific location has not yet been identified and/or lease terms are unknown.
