President's Highlights - November 2025

Setting the Standard

Our students, faculty and staff are driven to achieve excellence. Whether in the classroom, the lab or communities around Missouri, our four UM universities make a difference. The following stories emphasize the hard work, resilience and success happening each day. Through our shared commitment to one another and those we serve, we advance meaningful change in our state and world. I remain grateful for your dedication to learning, research and engagement. Together, we fulfill our shared mission and create more impact for all.

Leading by example

UMSL student Matt Markivee, an Air Force veteran who works as a public information specialist for the Missouri House of Representatives, balances the demands of parenting and his career while working toward his degree in communication as a fully online student.

Missouri S&T has been awarded a $19.8 million collaborative agreement to renew the National Science Foundation’s Center for Synthetic Organic Electrochemistry. S&T’s chemistry department will lead the center, and the university will partner with 13 additional institutions on the grant.

Community

UMKC

KC Streetcar is now open at UMKC’s front door

The extended KC Streetcar route allows UMKC students more opportunities for internships, job experiences and volunteer work in the community. It also gives citizens more access to university services.
