COLUMBIA, Mo. – Following Missouri Gov.  Michael Parson’s State of the State Address, University of Missouri Board of Curators Chair Jon Sundvold and UM System President Mun Choi expressed their appreciation and support for Parson and the Missouri legislature.

“The University of Missouri System is poised for a tremendous year as we implement a bold plan. As we continue to strive for even greater excellence, further transformation and service to our communities, we look forward to partnering with the governor and the legislature,” Sundvold said. “We have exciting progress happening at all four universities that together serve more than 71,000 students, as well as other programs that reach every citizen of the state. We are very focused on our mission to serve Missourians and are grateful for the support and confidence we’ve received from the legislature.”

“I would like to thank Governor Parson and the entire Missouri legislature for their commitment to public higher education,” Choi said. “I know our elected officials have a difficult job ahead and must balance many needs. Through their advocacy and support, they have shown repeatedly that they appreciate the unique role the University of Missouri System plays throughout the state, preparing future leaders, conducting life-changing research and working to address the needs of Missourians in health care, education and economic development.”
