Statement from University of Missouri System President

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The following statement was issued today by University of Missouri System President Mun Choi:

I join Missouri S&T and the entire University of Missouri System community in congratulating Chancellor Schrader on her new appointment as President of Wright State University.

Dr. Schrader has significantly advanced our mission for excellence in research, education, outreach and economic development.   Under her leadership, Missouri S&T’s overall enrollment has grown by 16 percent, while ranked faculty numbers have grown by 18 percent. The university has also seen a 36 percent increase in the number of ranked female faculty, a 59 percent increase in U.S. patents filed and a 26 percent average annual increase in gifts.  During her tenure, the university established four “signature” areas to strengthen research and education in fields where Missouri S&T is considered among the nation’s best: Advanced Manufacturing, Advanced Materials for Sustainable Infrastructure, Enabling Materials for Extreme Environments and Smart Living.  Missouri S&T is more vital and resilient as a result of her leadership and the many contributions of the faculty, students, staff, alumni and corporate partners.  Together, you’ve made Missouri S&T the incredible institution that it is today.

I will be meeting with members of the Missouri S&T community to develop a transition plan and the naming of an interim chancellor.  In the coming months, we will launch a national search for a permanent chancellor to continue to build upon the successful programs of excellence at Missouri S&T.

In closing, I’m grateful for Chancellor Schrader’s dedicated service and leadership during the past 5 years and wish her every success in her new position at Wright State University.

I look forward to working with all of you.
