Media Advisory: UM System President to visit Webb City and Joplin as part of Show Me Value tour

WHAT: University of Missouri System President Tim Wolfe will visit Webb City and Joplin as a continuation of his Show Me Value tour, which focuses on communicating the value of higher education to all Missourians. The president’s Show Me Value tour was created earlier this year in response to growing national sentiment that the value of a college degree is declining and that youth should be encouraged to find alternatives to obtaining a four-year college degree.

President Wolfe will discuss both the personal and societal benefits of obtaining a college degree to junior high school students in Webb City, and will also visit with a Joplin-area business to discuss workforce needs and ways the university can help prepare students for the workforce.

WHEN/WHERE: Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013
8-9 a.m. Webb City Junior High School
807 West 1st Street
Webb City, MO 64870

News media that would like to attend the school event are asked to please notify Chief Communications Officer John Fougere at the contact information above no later than noon Tuesday, October 1. President Wolfe will be available following the event at Webb City Junior High School for interviews and to answer questions.
