This is Section 3 of the University of Missouri System’s Consultant Procedures and Design Guidelines Manual. This manual is designed to assist architects, engineers, design professionals and design/build contractors (A/E) in understanding the University’s policies and expectations.

Section 3 includes the full design guidelines document, along with the list of allowable delegated design items. You also will find the division guidelines that offer detailed, discipline‑specific standards covering architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, utilities and specialized systems. Each division includes supplements and technical documents to support design professionals in producing accurate, code‑compliant and coordinated construction documents.

  • All official versions of the Consultant Procedures and Design Guidelines are maintained on this site unless otherwise noted.

  • The appropriate edition for each active UM design project is referenced directly in the agreement between the University and the consultant.

  • Consultants are responsible for downloading and using the standards provided here.
