Am I automatically enrolled in the 457(b) plan upon employment?

If your core retirement plan is the Hybrid Plan or the Defined Contribution Plan, you are automatically enrolled in the 457(b) Plan at the maximum employer match plan of your core retirement plan. You do not need to enroll. You may change your deferral percentage or opt out at any time. A tutorial is available for you to assist in making changes to your deferral percentage.

You select how to invest you contributions to the 457(b) Plan. For information about your investment choices, please visit your Fidelity NetBenefits account and select the Plans & Investments tab, then investment options section under each plan.

It is important that you access your account so you can make your investment selection. If you do not make a selection, your investments will be placed in a University-selected default investment. However, you may make changes to your investment selections at any time online through your Fidelity NetBenefits account or by calling 1-800-343-0860.

Employees not in the DC Plan or Hybrid plan may have options to participate voluntarily in the 457(b) plan. For more information, review your options on the core and voluntary plans page.
