Onboarding Series

Welcom to You at the U

Under Construction!

The UM System Onboarding Series is currently being updated to better meet your needs. We will be back up and running soon.

In the meantime, here are a few essential resources for you as you begin your work.

New Employee Checklist

Welcome to the University of Missouri System! Starting a new position can be exciting and challenging, so our new employee checklists have been created to help you transition successfully. Check in with your supervisor before you begin using the checklist, as they may have already completed some tasks for you.

Entering Work Time and/or Time Off

New staff members will need to enter work time and/or time off, so get to know myHR, our mobile-friendly employee portal where you can complete these tasks and more. To learn about myHR, view our guides and simulations:
•    Hourly time reporter
•    Salaried time reporter
•    Variable hour time reporter

Enrolling in Benefits

As a full-time employee, you have 31 days from your hire date, or date of eligibility, to enroll in your insurance benefits. Visit enrolling in benefits for the first time to learn how to complete your enrollment. We encourage you to read researching insurance options before you enroll so you can be sure to choose the benefit options that are right for you. Remember, if you don't enroll within 31 days of your hire date, you will be defaulted to employee-only medical coverage in the Healthy Savings Plan.
Contacting Human Resources
Human Resources can be a great source of support for you, whether you encounter an issue or need an objective point of view. We encourage you to reach out and get to know the employee relations contact at your university: MU, UMKC, Missouri S&T, UMSL or UM System.

University Policies
For your reference, there are two main sets of policies across the UM System: Collected Rules and Regulations and the UM System Policies (which includes the HR Resources Manual). Your university may have additional policies. Collected Rules and Regulations are formally approved by the University of Missouri Board of Curators and are the highest in the hierarchy of policies. UM System Policies are an expansion of the Collected Rules and Regulations on issues primarily related to people, business and administration.
