As a full-time benefit-eligible employee of the University of Missouri, you are eligible for insurance and retirement benefits. Please review the below scenarios to determine which one applies to you. Then, select your specific scenario to learn more about your benefits.

Insurance Benefits
You will continue to be eligible to participate in a broad array of benefit programs (health, dental, vision, life and disability) that the University makes available. If you are not currently enrolled, or want to make changes to your current elections, you will be eligible to do so during the next Annual Enrollment period. Most programs will require a contribution (premium) on your part to participate. Please contact the UM System Office of Human Resources at (573) 882-2146 with specific questions.
Core and Voluntary Retirement Plans
You will be enrolled in the Defined Contribution Retirement Plan concurrent with the effective date of the appointment listed in your offer letter and you will be automatically enrolled to make a contribution of 8% of eligible compensation. The University will then make a matching contribution, presently up to 8%. You can adjust your contribution election at any time. In addition to the Defined Contribution Retirement Plan, you always have the opportunity to save more toward retirement and reduce your taxable income through payroll deductions with the Voluntary Retirement Plans. Irrevocable Retirement Plans
On or before your first day of employment*, you must make a decision regarding participation in the irrevocable 401(a) Supplemental Retirement Plan and/or irrevocable 403(b) plan. Unlike other deferral options, once you have made this election it cannot be stopped or modified during your employment with the University.
*If you have previously been employed in any capacity with the University of Missouri System, please contact UM System Office of Human Resources Retirement Department to determine eligibility to enroll in irrevocable plans.

You will continue to be eligible to participate in a broad array of benefit programs (health, dental, vision, life and disability) that the University makes available. If you are not currently enrolled, or want to make changes to your current elections, you will be eligible to do so during the next Annual Enrollment period. Qualifying Events such as family and employment status changes (e.g. leave of absence) provide a unique opportunity to make changes to your plan elections mid-year. Your personal leave of absence is commencing on your first day of employment with the University of Missouri System (University); therefore, you are not considered to be actively working. You will not be eligible for University benefits (health, dental, vision, life or disability) until you return from your leave of absence.
